How we Researched

As a group the first question we asked ourselves was that we needed a song in which we could channel our ideas effectively through the lyrics in order to achieve the top marks. With this idea in mind we began researching for this ideal soloution by rifling through our own playlists. We decided this would be the best course of action to begin with as we felt that we could relate better to our own interests rather than a whole differnt genre.
.

This part of the research provided us with numerous song choices which, although we liked, did not persuade us undefinately that it would work as a music video.

At this stage we looked at researching in a different way. Instead of fitting a video into the song, we began looking out our favourite music videos via YouTube to provide us with inspiration and to look at in detail the style in which the video portrays the lyrics. The benefit of using Youtube was that once a song choice was finished, links popped up suggesting other songs of the same genre. This benefitted our searching as we didn't have to keep thinking of song choices in which to type in.
.
Two music videos stood out to us above the rest. 'Dead and Gone' by T.I and J.T and 'Emily's Heart' by Jamie T. The video style of 'Dead and Gone' is a composition of both a narrative and performance, as if the story is being told through thoughts and recollections. This video idea intrigued us and the idea of the narrative led us to look at the style of 'Emily's Heart', which depicts a journey and how the mind reacts to the situation.
.
Once we began looking in detail, music videos by the artist 'Drake' the song 'Fireworks' ft Alicia Keys came up. This song wasn't accompanied by any video which got our minds thinking of a storyline for the lyrics. After coming up with numerous interpretations of the lyrics, (see connotations of lyrics) this song choice went to the top of our list. The whole group came to a conclusive agreement that this song directly related to a suitable genre, and we would be able to create a unique video incorporating our ideas from the two more popular music videos stated above.
